Trip to Perak Tong

Perak Tong also known as Perak Cave is located at Jalan Kuala Kangsar. This temple houses consist more than 40 Buddha statues. Perak Tong has a steep staircase in the inferior of the cave which rising up to the top of its hill and we can have panoramic view of Ipoh.

Passing through the temple arch at the entrance, we can immediately see a 15m high image of Buddha, as the main feature in the natural prayer chamber. Several small chambers lead off from this area, forming little grottoes for images of deities like Goddess of Mercy (Guan Yin). The Buddha statues in Perak Tong was the tallest and largest of its kind in Malaysia when first commissioned.

A donation of RM 3 to the temple by my friend in order to access towards the narrow staircase that leads to the upper part of the temple and the monk quarters. After a climbing 385 steps stair case, a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside and a small garden and pavilion. We can see the scenery of Ipoh from the hills and enjoy the fresh air. My friend and I were taken some photos at peak of Perak Tong. However, it is a good exercise to climb up the steep and long staircases.

We also see the painting on the wall of the cave with Buddha's stories carve on it. Besides, there is Chinese fortune teller in the temple where we can know about our passed and future. As a conclusion, Perak Tong is a great place to visit.
